The BCA Shaxe Tech Avalanche Shovel comes with an interchangeable ice axe head for type 1 ice axes. It's curved fixed-length shaft and stainless steel head with 9 degrees of added pick angle provides greater performance on steeper, more difficult climbs. The BCA Shaxe Speed includes holes in the shovel and axe head for use as a snow anchor, as well as the hardware needed for construction of an emergency sled using skis (provided they have holes).
