Before we dive into the list, here are some friendly tips and reminders to make sure you have an enjoyable whale watching experience. Remember to always respect nature, maintain distance and not do anything erratic which might endanger you or the whale.

• Maintain Distance- Remember to stay a minimum 100 meters away from all marine wildlife. For killer and beluga whales, the recommended distance is 200 and 400 meters respectively. If you spot a tail, a fin or a spray of water, it should act as a sign to maintain further distance. 
• Camera Equipment- If you are carrying camera equipment, especially in the form of drones, make sure the drone is a minimum 1000 ft vertically away from the closest marine life. Given how loud drones are, they can cause disturbances in natural ecosystems. 
• Swimming- Avoid swimming in open waters, especially if you spot marine life in the distance. Swimming in open waters can cause disturbances which may make the marine life flee, or in some cases, even attack. To protect yourself from risk of injury and to protect the wildlife, it is important that you stay out of open waters. 
• Feeding- As inviting and interesting as it may seem, you should avoid feeding them at all costs. If approached by aquatic life, slowly turn the other direction and move away from them. 
• Sudden Changes- If you find dolphins swimming close to your boat, avoid suddenly changing direction.
• Stranded Life and Haul-Outs- If you find a beached seal/walrus pup, avoid approaching it. Seals and Walruses like to spend a lot of time on land and should be left alone. If you find a baby seal on the shore, its mother might be in the vicinity. Please leave the pup alone.

During Haul-Outs ( when seals/walrus temporarily leave the water to rest, socialize, or engage in various activities on land or ice) these aquatic life can be seen more frequently on the beach. Avoid approaching these groups of marine life, as they might attack you.
